The water in Emerald Lake is always a greenish turquoise colour because of different minerals in the water. This gives beautiful reflections from the surrounding Rocky Mountains and leaves the viewer with a sense of peace and tranquility. The Provincial bird, the Steller's Jay, observes visitors to the lake from the tree on the left.
