The playful and pleasant disposition of the nuthatches that visit our yard prompted an experiment. Coiling the flap of an opening cut from a sheet of heavy weight archival paper, I provided an angled resting point that set up interesting negative shapes behind the bird while enhancing the illusion of depth.
