The Screech Owl is a small cavity-roosting owl that is active at night and most commonly identified by its trilling or whinnying song. That is how I knew screech owls were present near my home. While the owl is not currently on the endangered list, its population is declining in some areas and can be helped out with nest boxes. I chose to portray this owl as a paper sculpture because I was drawn to the various textures of its feathers especially around its face. I hope you find these textures as intriguing as I do.
