The Great Blue Heron is one of my favorite wading/shore birds. This bird always presents itself in a regal manner and is generally found standing alone and standing tall. I travel to South Central Texas annually to see this bird. The corridor from Rockport/Fulton over to Corpus Christi is one of the most productive birding areas in Texas and in the nation. In this work, my intention was to capture that special light coming across the shoulder of the Great Blue as it stood tall against the elements at the edge of the Gulf of Mexico.
