Swamp wallabies are a marsupial and part of the macropod family that includes our iconic Kangaroo. There are about 30 different species of wallabies found across Australia and vary in size and colour. Living in a rural community I am lucky to come across wallabies quite often. Swamp wallabies would be one of my favourites. They are a shy animal and prefer to sit amongst the shelter of shrubbery, under the dappled light of gum trees where they can blend into their surroundings. I love working in earthy tones; this was a joy to paint!
