Life in the shallow waters close to the shore is fascinating to watch and it is inspiring and also challenging for me as a painter. I love the constant movement of the winds and the waves, ebb and flow of the tide, and the sunlight on both the surface and the sandy bottom. Of course, many creatures inhabit the areas close to shore, and all have stories to tell. Here a Sea star moves across a Quahog shell. Clams are a favorite food for sea stars, possibly this one has just had dinner, or perhaps it is just moving along in the sparkling sunlight.
