While at the Mashatu Game Reserve in Botswana, I had the pleasure of utilizing an underground photographic hide that was sunk into the ground right next to a waterhole that is in prime Elephant habitat. Inside, seating is arranged so that viewers’ heads are at ground level. The waterhole attracts animals besides elephants, including Kudu, Impala and baboons. However, the real attraction is the elephants. I was lucky enough to visit the hide three times and took thousands of photos. It was so fascinating watching the interaction between the families of elephants. I especially loved to view the baby elephants; they were so much fun! This composition and artwork were created from a photo I took.
