Leopards are probably one of my favorite subjects to paint. Not only are they fascinating creatures, but they have so many moods that can be captured on canvas. Typical of the cat family they can be found alert, aggressive, attentive, stalking, relaxed, lazy & even sleepy... With this painting and specifically the dark background from which he is emerging, I hoped to portray some of the alertness but also mystery and secretive behaviour surrounding this elusive, beautiful wild cat.
