Seeing a huge flock of Snow Geese on their migration route is an incredible sight. In this painting they are set against an impending storm as they continue to southern latitudes. They can cover incredibly large distances, from the arctic in Canada, to the southern United States and Mexico. Their boom in population, in the last few decades has caused the habitat to suffer in the places where they nest and could be caused by many reasons from a warming arctic climate to food abundance along their migration route. Finding a balance between conservation success for the species and the ecological challenges for other species in the same habitat, is the focus of scientific and conservation research.
