I had a dream of watching an old black and white Frankenstein movie and when I woke up, I knew I wanted to create an old mad scientist's laboratory. I had a vison of a cat chasing a bird in the lab and since ocelots are endangered and scarce in their former habitat in Texas. I wanted to raise awareness of their plight and existence by creating an Ocelot as an exotic creature prowling this ancient lab. Ocelots are still found in South Texas and also one of my favorite birds, the Altamira Oriole. This piece was challenging and tricky to pull off.
