This could be a poster for my youth in Michigan: chasing Monarchs, blowing Milkweed seeds and trying to catch dragonflies and bees. These specific species are all endangered in my state. The Rusty Patched Bumble Bee may already be eradicated here. The Monarch’s plight is tenuous, as is Sullivant’s Milkweed. Hine’s emerald dragonflies, once common, have become a rare sight. The joys of my youth are vanishing before my eyes, one species at a time. We must work together to stop these losses. They might not be the biggest, but every glorious creature deserves to be fought for.
