The moment I wanted to travel to Africa was when I saw a friend's live video of a bunch of giraffes running across open country near Nairobi. In that moment, giraffes transformed from static images or captive animals to living beings. Giraffe conservationists have been successful in many endeavors. Let's hope their efforts continue so we can keep giraffes in our hearts and minds even when they are far away. How can we not preserve them for the future?
