This is a painting of two red foxes enjoying a little winter sun. I've often seen them choosing a spot where they can catch a few rays and why not when snow is covering the ground. The rich orange of a Fox’s coat against the blue shadows of snow is a wonderful, punchy contrast of complimentary colours. They often have a bolt hole close to hand and I deliberately suggested they had the safety of a den in the shadows just behind them.
