Designed for the harsh, snowy, rugged terrain, the elusive Snow Leopard is a symbol of beauty and strength. This painting depicts the tough terrain where these top predator, big cats thrive and control the high alpine ecosystem. Special thanks to Mr. Jamal Leghari, wildlife photographer, who painstakingly took stunning photographs of snow leopards in Khunjerab National Park in Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan, for allowing me to use his stunning photographs. Habitat loss, hunting for its fur, and killing by shepherds to protect livestock, are the main threats to its survival in Pakistan. Awareness of its importance to the alpine ecosystem health, will hopefully bring positive change to people’s minds.
