Our precious oceans are vast, and full of life, but as every diver knows they offer nowhere near the density of life per square meter of a coral reef. While the coral reefs cover only one percent of the ocean, they are home to twenty-five percent of all ocean life. These fish nurseries and mating grounds provide critical food and income for as many as a BILLION of the world's poorest human inhabitants. As our (human) population grows and the planet warms, these vital ecosystems are stressed to near the point of collapse. This is a painting of a healthy Coral Reef.
