The waters around islands like Gasparilla on Florida's gulf coast provide a perfect habitat for many species of shore birds, like this great egret. Fish abound in the shallow waters, and I am always inspired by watching these beautiful birds as they hunt. The area is home to manatees and dolphins as well, and the sign on the left of the painting reminds the occasional boat traffic to be mindful and go slowly.
