A Golden Pheasant has to be one of the most colorful birds and yet it can disappear in vegetation. The darks and lights of its coloring mimic the dappled sunlight. Only the movement of the vegetation might give away its presence. Although native to mountainous forest areas of China it is often raised and naturalized to other areas of the world. Because of its origins, it is often known as the Chinese Pheasant. To enhance its name, I used gold leaf to frame this golden crested beauty.
