I saw these two Red-tailed Black Cockatoos preening each other and snuggling up whilst walking through some ancient bush. They were so intent on each other they did not notice me. The flashy red tail feathers of the male always enhance a painting. They are endangered in many areas of Australia and patchily distributed in others, mainly due to loss of breeding habitat – tree felling, bush fires and competition for suitable nesting hollows.
