I had the privilege of meeting this Amur Tiger at the Brandywine Zoo. Being the world’s largest cat, I thought he deserved to be painted in his natural home setting. Did you know that the Amur Tiger stripe patterns are unique to each animal just as humans have birthmarks? They can be found in The Amur River Valley of East Russia, Southern Russia, and Northern China. Unfortunately, their range has been significantly reduced due to illegal deforestation and poaching pressure; hence, they no longer reside in Siberia. There are currently 450 Amur Tigers left in the wild (WWF). Their conservation status is still considered endangered.
