I wanted to depict an ocean scene, as to me, our oceans are at a perilous tipping point and we need to do so much better. To me, Orcas symbolize the ocean. Grace, beauty and speed: I could watch them for hours. Even though Orcas are THE apex predators of the sea, they are much more than that. They are intelligent and self-aware, they mourn their dead, and their families stay together forever. I feel a connection to them I cannot explain. I am honored to be able to pay them the respect they deserve in the way that I know how.
