“They paved paradise, put up a parking lot…”- Joni Mitchell The fight for conservation of the natural world is an uphill struggle in Texas, my home state, where the power and influence of the Big Oil companies still hold sway. However, there are many Texans who stand vigil to keep the environment from succumbing to the power of “profit over people”. Our area on the southern coast of Texas on the Gulf of Mexico is an especially sensitive area. This painting is of one of our local bays which are home to many of the species that depend on a clean environment to survive.
