I love polar bears. I have used multiple references for this painting as well as my own imagination. Polar bears are the largest bear in the world and the top predator in the Arctic. They are talented swimmers, but require ice for hunting, which they spend 50% of their time doing. They rely on the ice for hunting, resting, traveling and mating. Climate change is causing a loss of sea ice which is their habitat and hunting grounds. It is my hope that we will understand that it isn't just the ice that is being affected... it has a far stronger impact.
