Wall color:
This piece was inspired by the plight of the African lion in the face of survival and extinction. This wire/metal and oil paint wall sculpture is mounted on stretched canvas for wall hanging. The use of wire is influenced by the notion that holes and space can suggest emptiness or death. I sculpted the lion head with wire to achieve this effect. The painted areas suggest the lions motivation to live, as well as human effort to help the lion succeed. There are only 23,000 to 39,000 lions left in the wild.
