I am inspired to paint cranes because almost all of the world's 15 crane species are threatened or endangered, and I want to draw attention to their beauty. These two cranes are starting to engage in their legendary mating dance, which brings hope for the future of the species. I've seen many cranes and a few crane dances in the wetlands of southern Oregon - truly a breathtaking sight! Like all my paintings, I hope to present a slightly different way of looking at nature with the goal of inspiring efforts to help preserve its majesty.
