FANCY COLORS King Vultures are known for their large size and their striking colors. The King Vulture’s body is a sharp contrast of feathers of white and black. The skin on their head and neck ranges from yellow to orange to red. In spite of their visual appeal, there is not much current research with this species. One thing many scientists agree upon is they are currently suffering from disastrous habitat loss. These large scavengers inhabit the tall canopies of the undisturbed trees in the tropical lowland forests from Mexico to mid South America. These birds are rapidly losing habitat because of the current catastrophic loss of rainforest trees. The destruction of the rainforest must be stopped if we are to save King Vultures and the other inhabitants of the tropical forests.
