Elephants represent strength, power, and wisdom. The African Elephant is the largest animal walking the Earth. Their herds wander through 37 countries in Africa. They are easily recognized by their trunk that is used for communication and handling objects. Elephants are highly intelligent animals whose continued existence is threatened. Loss of habitat, human-elephant conflict, and poaching for ivory and bushmeat are great threats to elephant populations. After meeting a special herd in South Africa, I was inspired to create “Mabula,” after an eye-to-eye experience. Look inside and see the hungry Hippo and the curious Rhino. Thanks goes to the Thula Thula Wildlife Reserve, and the amazing conservationist and author of “The Elephant Whisperer,” Lawrence Anthony, for the inspiration and adventure. Look for the hiding Ladybug, who brings good luck and happiness!
