The light was low in the late afternoon. It caught the lions' edges, their golden eyes, the rippled water as they drank. It's amazing how these wild hunters can tune me out. I used the blue as a unifier, as they are a family, as it is a peaceful moment before a busy night in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. Their are many layers on this piece, using transparent oil and cold wax medium. Oil allows for a certain luminosity, how I feel about the late, glowing light of an African afternoon.
