With this piece, I wanted to convey the magical quality of those dizzying stripes, the warm browns on the back from rolling in the dirt, and the suggestion of a water course behind the zebra. The Grevy's Zebra is very rare, with fewer than 2500 left in northern Kenya. It takes a special effort to travel to the isolated Samburu valley to see them, and I never tire of photographing and watching this largest species of zebra.
