I love painting interaction between different species. I photographed this sweet dingo pup at Australia Zoo a few years ago, and as time went by it was always a photo I would pause at and think about: what could I have him looking at? Finally I decided on a Blue-banded Bee whose deep buzzing sound when flying is unmistakable. Dingoes are a threatened species because they are classified as a pest, but in reality they play an important role in Australia's ecosystem. As a top order predator, they help control introduced foxes and feral cats, and they actually help protect other threatened native species.
