This small pheasant is found in the Himalayas from Nepal to Sichuan. There is slight variation in plumage depending on where they are found but the red flecks on the feathers give the bird its name. They are not great flyers so when you see them they usually run into the high altitude forests. The red-orange feet and legs catch your attention as they appear almost florescent in the early morning light. It is one of my favorite birds.
