Three years ago while visiting Kona, the coast on the big island of Hawaii, I did a few dives including a night dive with Manta Rays. For close to an hour, while sitting in the front row of Poseidon’s theater of the abyss, we were entertained by these beautiful gentle creatures. A group of ten Manta Rays performed a ballet, swooping down and gliding within inches of our heads while scooping up plankton in their three-foot-wide gaping mouths. It was truly a site to behold and one I hope to soon experience again.
