The wildfowl sculptures I create is to showcase the beauty I see in nature. In doing so I hope other will stop and take notice of nature even if they are in their back yard. It sad to see the decrease in song birds and bees around my little part of the world. Enjoy what we have and please help with conservation.

As a naturalist and wildlife biologist, I want my work to inspire and motivate people to fully appreciate the natural world and work to protect it. Marvel at the beauty of an animal well portrayed, and you can for a moment escape the confusion of modern society and connect with something much bigger and grander.

I can’t imagine doing a painting without an animal or bird of some sort.  It has been a constant theme in my art, and it is foremost in my mind when I start a new painting.  Since I can’t commandeer Noah’s Ark, I can love animals by painting them; leaving a legacy of their existence and hopefully bringing to the viewer the same joy that I experience painting them.

One of the challenges I enjoy most in the creation of a piece, is trying to convey movement and life in my subjects. As a self- taught artist, I prefer oil paint on canvas and for the most part triple zero brushes for working on fine detail. Paintings are meticulously rendered from multiple layers of thinly applied paint, and small strokes pick up the preferred natural light. Wild landscape and highly detailed scenes are my subject of choice and I strive to include the viewer in my visual journey and interpretations of the naturel world and human nature.
