With climate change being a glaring reality , polar bears have become an iconic symbol of that reality. My husband and I have been fortunate to travel to the northernmost town in the USA, Barrow, Alaska. Polar bears there have been revered and respected by the Inuit tribes for centuries. They refer to them as “Nanuk” and believe they are wise, powerful, and “almost human” One can see polar bears, and the antics they exhibit frequently in the outskirts of this tiny frontier town that is accessible only by plane. These two bears are fighting over the rights for precious food, hence the play on words title. I carefully chose a chiseled edge travertine stone base that resembles the natural snowy landscape these bears inhabit.
