Honeybees have been domesticated for thousands of years by humans. The fate and genetic vitality of a once wild species and important pollinator lie completely in our hands. In rural, extensively managed agricultural areas of Switzerland the tradition of former times still lives on consistent with nature and surrounding ecosystems. During summer time the air is filled with busy buzzing honeybees commuting in and out of the traditionally crafted beehives. The scenery of this particular hive I found in our region reminds me of an abstract trompe l'oeil with primary and secondary colors. What else could an artist ask for?
