"Misty", the four year old lioness, was born in South Africa in 2016. She travelled to Australia as a cub, along with an unrelated male cub named "Milo". After a 30 day quarantine period they arrived at Billabong Zoo and Wildlife Park in New South Wales. Here, they have become popular ambassadors for their species and, importantly, have already produced four offspring. Numbers in the wild population are in decline and the African Lion is classified as vulnerable by the IUCN Red List.
