In just the last 100 years, we have lost 90% of the wild cheetah population. Loss of habitat, lack of prey food and conflict with humans, mean the world’s fastest land mammal is now racing towards extinction.
The title for my painting – ‘A Need for Speed’, comes from both the individual cheetah’s everyday need for speed if it is to catch its prey, along with the need for us to act quickly if the species as a whole is to survive.
