Earlier this year I had the opportunity to travel to Madagascar and see these amazing animals in the wild. This painting is inspired by the tortoises and plants I saw while there. I was able to visit TSA's Tortoise Conservation Center and also participate on a radiated survey in the field. It was an incredible experience being in the spiny forest and seeing these tortoises in their habitat.
