It was on a hot, humid day that this Grizzly Bear was snoozing.. The title of this artwork refers to the most famous novel by French author Alexandre Dumas (1844): "The Three Musketeers", referring to the bodyguards of the King of France, Louis XIII. Depicted here are the 3 musketeers - 3 Aphid flies plus, the most reckless of all, a Syrphid fly. At the same time easygoing and very vigorous, it is not surprising that the natives of Western North America hold the Grizzly Bear in high regard, both spiritually and culturally. The Grizzly Bear occupies various habitats, including temperate rainforests, but it prefers open areas such as alpine meadows, river valleys, and shrubs. The biggest causes of its decline are the degradation and fragmentation of its habitat.
