In February 2019, I volunteered at the Pacuare Nature Reserve, on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. Ecology Projects International, based in Missoula, is the steward of this leatherback nesting beach. I had the privilege of helping to move leatherback eggs to save them from poachers, the most prevalent predator on this beach. This vessel was inspired by that adventure - a mamma leatherback leaving her nest just after laying her eggs. I am becoming increasingly more involved in sea turtle conservation. In the not so distant future I will move to Florida to be more hands on with sea turtles on both land and sea, with the intent to continue creating cast glass sea turtle conservation sculptures.
