The coniferous forests in Pakistan are home to these beautiful pheasants. Such a rare sight is seldom witnessed because of the shy nature of these birds. A sudden flush of a pair before me on a hiking trip in a pine forest was a sight worth painting. These pheasants are found at an elevation between 6000 and 11000 feet. Their high-speed flight is usually downhill through the woods. Habitat loss, through logging, and hunting are threats to their survival and we need to conserve them for generations to come.
