I painted this piece while thinking about how we so strive to capture wildlife through our art. It is all about the play of color and getting it just right. The bear is looking away, with a sad, and sorrowful look. He is but a paintball target, a subject to throw paint at, a thing we use for tourism while we slowly take away habitats and force these magnificent creatures to live among us to no good end.
