Western Lowland Gorillas are critically endangered. They are non-aggressive, quiet and peaceful, but threatened by poaching. This Silverback had a really powerful presence when I was researching him. The painting had to be large in size to try to capture the presence he had. Their DNA is highly similar to that of humans, (from - 95 to 98%) and they also have every fingerprint different like humans. Human activity heavily impacts all species of gorillas.
