Giant Anteaters are the most threatened mammal in Central America and are already extinct in Guatemala and majorly threatened by fires set by sugar cane growers. I researched this one at the Chattanooga Zoo. So unique and fascinating with their long noses, and long bushy tail, they are beautiful and strange mammals to see, Nashville Zoo has a conservation program for Giant Anteaters in conjunction with helping researchers in the wild. Only about 5,000 Giant Anteaters remain in the wild.
