The North American River Otter is equally at home in the water and on land. It makes its home in a burrow near the water's edge. Their strong tail and elongated body make it a terrific swimmer. On land they prefer life on the shores of lakes, marshes and streams.
This pair had been playing in the water and pulled out onto the river bank to dry off in the sun. As the sun hit the male it shone on its fur with glints of gold and rust – the pair looked majestic.
