Artist Statement

The endemic yellow-faced flameback (Chrysocolaptes xanthocephalus) is a species of woodpecker, found on the Philippine islands of Negros, Guimaras, Panay, Masbate, and Ticao. This endangered woodpecker species is in decline due to habitat fragmentation and degradation of lowland forests that it depends on. It is estimated that the current population is between 250 and 999.
