Artist Statement

I've never seen this bird in the wild. The source for this woodcut lives at the Cincinnati Zoo. I produced the image as a woodcut and did a little fiddling with mono print over in a layer over the the block print. It is in oil base ink on Kitakata paper mounted with archival glue. The hornbill is a young one, may they fly forever.
