Artist Statement

The only parrot native to the United States has been extirpated for several decades despite several attempts to reintroduce them into the southern Arizona and New Mexico mountain ranges they prefer. Thick-bills are still found in the Sierra Madres of Mexico although their range is under threat from logging and climate change.
