Artist Statement
This rare species is endemic to four tiny islands in the Faichuk group of islands within the Chuuk (Truk) atoll in Micronesia. Also known as the Faichuk white-eye, Truk white-eye, or great Truk white-eye this his endangered bird inhabits dense old and secondary- and old-growth stands of native forest, especially rich and well-developed forest above 400 m. the populations of 350 individuals is declining as their habitat continues to be fragmented and degraded. The endangered species is also facing potential threats from the shifts in habitat distribution and rising sea levels occurs due to the effects of climate change.
