Artist Statement
The spotted ground thrush is found in many parts of tropical to sub-tropical Africa foraging for invertebrates amongst leaf litter on dry forest floors as well as marshy scrublands. In South Africa they winter in coastal forests and move to inland forests in summer. They are seriously threatened by the destruction of their natural habitat.
Birds are fascinating as subjects for sketching, painting and photography. We need to find ways to protect flora and fauna in our own backyard and beyond.
It is an honour to have the opportunity to create works that help to highlight the importance of AFC and its mission.
