Also known as the Pinsker's Hawk-eagle,Visayan Hawk Eagle, or South Philippine Hawk-eagle this large raptor is endemic to the tropical highland forest of the islands of Leyte, Samar, Negros and Mindanao in the Philippines. The Philippine Eagle Conservation Center (Philippine Eagle Foundation) has recently had success with their captive breeding program for these rare birds. Five birds have successfully hatched Davan City facilities with hopes that they can be raised to maturity and eventually released back into the wild to reestablish the populations.
